This home of the Californian bungalow period is interesting architecturally in that it reflects a number of Australian constructional and design motifs. The basic structure appears to be a mix of cavity and solid brickwork with solid internal walls having plaster finish. The exterior has typical low pitch gable roofing with exposed rafter ends, but is unusual in having hip roofing to part. It is the use of decorative elements within the front upper gable, which reflect Australian decorative features of the period. There is extensive lead lighting to external joinery, some of which is particularly attractive.
Interlinking living areas are particularly spacious and feature plaster ceilings with boxed beams. The fireplace is quite a gem with its red tile surround and hearth and Moorish archway. The solid fuel space heater insert is also an interesting, quite early model of its type, but probably not original to the building, which has had later additions such as an enclosed portico at left front and quite recent kitchen/bathroom and other upgrading.
